3. It is because of The Acid Rain BUT....

4. WHAT IS ACID RAIN??

5. Acid rain is a type of rain and is one of the consequences of air pollution. When any fuel is burnt, it produces different chemicals that go to the atmosphere. In fact, there are approximately 500.000 strange substances in the atmosphere.

6. HOW IS IT FORMED??

7. Carbon dioxide Nitrogen oxides Sulfur dioxide Water molecules Hydrochloric acid Nitric acid Sulfuric acid

8. The rain that is produced in places without pollution has a pH between 5 and 6. When the air has more sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides, the acid can increase to a pH of 3.

9. In the XVII century, acid rain was falling principally in cities. Unfortunately, air pollution that is originated in the cities moves by winds to other areas which haven´t got factories, cars… The acid rain´s problem was originated in the Industrial Revolution.

10. IS IT VERY DANGEROUS??

11. It provokes the death of a lot of crustaceans, aquatic insects and molluscs and it also produced deformities in young fishes. ACID RAIN´S EFFECTS ARE NUMEROUS The acid gets into the land and it affects trees’ roots. Ancient buildings that are made by limestone react when they are in contact with rain so they transform in plaster. In addition, metallic materials and concrete buildings are affected. Another consequence is that in humans it weakens the defenses so we are more prone to catch diseases and it also increases cancer cases.

12. That is because we are decided to talk about this big problem that by the day of today is afecting to all our planet and to all of us. We are going to try to give you some solutions to stop it. BECAUSE TOGETHER WE CAN GET IT!

13. HOW DOES THE ACID RAIN IMPACT THE LAND HABITATS?

14. Acid rain is one of the causes of deforestation and destruction of terrestrial habitats.

15. Forests in high mountain regions are often exposed to more acid than other forests because they tend to be surrounded by acidic clouds. Polluted air affects directly and indirectly to the trees.

16. The direct effects are damage to the leaves. The indirect effects are related to soil acidification

17. The forestation in Scandinavia is important for Western Europe as it is the largest source of raw material in the wood industry.
