1. Centropa

2.  I am Stella Kalle, teacher in the Jewish Primary School in Thessaloniki, Greece  I used Centropa sources for my 12-year-old students (6 th grade) during our History lessons  We decided to make a video about the “Neighborhood of our school” relating our present ordinary life with the Jewish life before the 2 nd World War.

3.  Students got themselves familiarized with Centropa website  Students choose an interview from a Greek Jew and present it to others  We decided the topic and discussed for its limits  We visited the archives, researched in books and on the internet

4.  We decided the structure of the video by doing first a Power Point presentation – By doing that we realized what to keep and what to leave…  We decided to use the students’ faces and speech instead of showing only photos  We were more cute in speaking in Greek so we put subtitles-that was very good homework for our English lesson!

5.  We spent many hours for this project…but at the end students were really excited by the result!  Students doing the research for our short video read a lot – usually information that they would never learn at school!  Students from the other grades want also to make a video next year!  Other teachers of the school started asking about Centropa…  We showed our video at the graduation day and parents got really amazed!
