EARLY LIFE Arnold was born march 3, 1918 in New York. He grew up in Atlantic city, new jersey and later moved to Miami beach, Florida. 1936 he studied painting and drawing at university of Miami. After 2 years he was unable to afford it so he moved to Philadelphia to work for a studio making 49 cent portraits.

EARLY LIFE Newman returned to Florida in 1942 to manage a portrait studio in West Palm Beach. Three years later he opened his own business in Miami Beach. In 1946 Newman relocated to New York. Newman published many of his portraits in magazines such as Harper’s Bazaar, Time, Look, and Life.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS Newman’s best known images were in black and white. He was one of the few photographers allowed to make a portrait of the famously camera shy Heri Cartier-Bresson. Newman’s best known color image is an eerie portrait from 1963 that shows convicted former Nazi slave labor boss Alfried Krupp in one of Krupp’s factories.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS In 1999 he won a infinity award for master of photography. In 2004 he won a Lucie award for outstanding achievement in portrait photography, in that same year he was also awarded the royal photographic society’s centenary medal. He also got many more other awards.

ENDING Arnold Newman married his wife in 1949, Augusta Rubenstein. They had two sons named Eric and David. Newman died in on june 6, 2006 in New York. His wife died in 2009. His photographs will forever be remembered.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS 1. the biggest thing I gained from this project was learning many new things about a great photographer. 2. I took my photographers work and make it my own by trying to get the same pose as he did in his photos. 3. I would probably retake the pictures and make them look better with the more props 4.
