On July28, 1976, an earthquake shook Tangshan. Before the earthquake, strange things were happening but people of the city thought little of these events. At 3:42 am everything began to shake. In fifteen terrible seconds a large city lay in ruins. More than 400,000 people were killed or seriously injured. Great damage was caused. Soon after the quakes, soldiers were sent to help the rescue workers. They dug out those who were trapped and bury the dead. Slowly, the city began to breathe again.
