Games to Learn This is a product of the science department of Dartford Technology College

Multi-use The games created in this package have been used in many different ways. All games have been used by pupils at DTC to revise topics taught in class. The individuals can access these games and play them singularly for individual learning. The games have also been used in pairs by two pupils taking turns. Finally the games have been used in whole class form when the next individual on the register answers sequential questions.

Blank Presentation Also in this teaching package there is a blank presentation. This allows others to use the same twenty question revision technique for any subject. The blank presentation is skeleton form of the game the high power point controls have been incorporated.

Instructions for Use Slide 1 is a title page for teachers to adapt for their own requirements; it has a button to allow access to the questions. Slides 2 to 21 are for individualised questions. Below the question, a series of multiple choice answers are inserted. The correct answer hyperlinks to next slide. All incorrect answers hyperlink to a slide that offers an opportunity to return to the question

Completion Students eventually realise that every time they get a wrong answer, the activity throws them to an ‘Oh Dear’ slide which offers an opportunity to return to the question. From experiences at DTC, this drives the student. They proceed with a desire to beat the program. Constant repetition of questions seems to facilitate learning and aid memory.

Best use After teaching a module the student then attempts the 20-question test for the first time. This usually takes several restarts. One week later the pupils finish the task in a much shorter time. Finally just before exams I find the pupils go straight through without mistakes.
