6.  How many credits needed to be considered a 12 th grader?  17 credits needed at start of the 2016/2017 school year.  You will remain in 11 th grade homeroom if 17 credits are not attained.  Students can be promoted to 12 th grade when proper credit is earned.  Honors/AP points??  Additional points are awarded to a passing grade in honors (5), AP (10), and Dual Enrollment courses (10).

7.  Numeric Average:  Based on a 100 point scale.  Add all of the class averages and divide by number of classes.  All grades included on transcript, including failing grades.  Failed courses remain on transcript even if credit is made up.  Additional points for passing grades in honors (5), AP (10), MOWR courses (10).

9.  Students have the opportunity to earn high school and college credit simultaneously.  Tuition is paid for through state funds.  Students are responsible for all Georgia Milestones tests.

10. How Am I Being Evaluated?  GPA – Average of your academic core classes  Course Selection (rigor; difficulty level) – Selective colleges are looking at the strength or rigor of your courses throughout high school, including your senior year. We highly recommend seniors take a minimum of 4 academics each semester. (For highly selective colleges, a minimum of 5 each semester)  Test Scores (SAT and/or ACT)  Extracurricular Activities – Leadership and participation in clubs, service and sports can be particularly important to competitive colleges

11.  Essays – Required essays on the college application are important because they demonstrate your writing ability and give the college more information about you. Please seek advice when writing an essay and make sure to proofread for errors  Letters of Recommendation  Resume – Contains academic info., honors & awards, extracurricular activities, work/volunteer experience, etc.  Interviews

12. Contact each college/university to determine how GPA is calculated. Most colleges only consider academic courses (Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Foreign Language) Some colleges may take off the additional points that were added for Honors, AP and college courses. High School GPA is calculated by the Henry County Board of Education.

14.  If a college or scholarship program inquires about honor code violations or discipline, the counseling office is obligated to report this information.  Also, inquiries on a student's integrity may also be affected if the student has a documented out of school suspension or honor code violation.  Acceptance to college is provisional, and colleges hold all of the rights.  Colleges reserve the right to rescind admission or put you on immediate probation.
