Hello, I’m Anubis, here to tell you about the cell wall.
NICK TURCO Hello, I’m Anubis, here to tell you about the cell wall.
2
The Cell Wall Hello, as you can see by the diagram, the cell wall has many parts. It has two main layers: the primary cell wall and the secondary cell wall. Later on I will explain these in greater detail.

The cell wall is an outer boundary of a plant cell
The cell wall is an outer boundary of a plant cell. It acts as a barrier preventing pathogens and other outside things from entering. The cell wall is also very rigid, and because of this, plants are immobile. Since plant cells have evolved this, they forfeited the ability to develop nervous systems, immune systems, and most importantly, mobility.

Ill now explain the primary cell wall
Ill now explain the primary cell wall. This is the first part of the cell wall to be made, by a growing cell. It isn’t as stiff or rigid as the secondary cell wall. It is primarily made of cellulose, carbohydrates, and proteins. Also, it is made of polysaccharides, including pectin and cross-linking glycans. It gives the cell its shape and structure.

Now on to the secondary cell wall
Now on to the secondary cell wall. It is stronger than the primary cell wall and doesn’t begin to appear till the cell has stopped growing. This is the source of energy in bio-fuel. It is composed nearly identically to the primary cell wall. One of the main differences is lignin, a general term for a group of polymers that make the cell wall stronger.

Well that’s it for this power point. See you later!
