DO NOW Date: 3/26 Q: What traits or characteristics provide an adaptive advantage for survival in some animals? What is the difference between internal and external structures?
11
ESSENTIAL QUESTION: What traits or characteristics provide an adaptive advantage for survival in some animals? OBJECTIVES: -Explore internal and external structures and how they provide an adaptive advantage for some animals.

Adaptations and Survival Picture of the Adaptation Organism Describe the organism’s Environment Describe the Adaptation (structure/behavior) Is this structure INTERNAL or EXTERNAL? How does this adaptation enhance survival of the organism? FLOWER Flowers grow in fields and areas that are open. There is usually good rainfall in these areas. Bright Coloration (Structural) -Flowers have bright coloration that attracts bees. This is an external feature. The coloration of flowers attracts bees and sends signals to bees that there is pollen present. The bees are attracted to the flower and collect the pollen. When they land on other plants they pollinate those plants allowing the plant to reproduce.

EXPLAIN: Share Out Take your notebook with you First: With your new partner, discuss what you learned about the first and second animals Second: With your second partner, discuss what you learned about animals three and four

DO NOW Date: 3/27 3/28 Q: How can traits change in a population over time? What is an adaptation? What is an advatage?
18
ESSENTIAL QUESTION: How can traits change in a population over time? OBJECTIVES: -Explore how traits (or genes) are passed down from generation to generation and how that impacts the survival of a species.

Investigation: Conclusion 1.The population of goldfish showed variation for which trait? 2.Summarize what happen during the investigation: How did population change over time? Did a certain color(s) become more common? Why? How did changing the environment affect the population? Pg Answer with complete sentences on pg of composition book.
