6 Excellence in teaching ‘All students observed and the student focus group commented favourably on the university’s support for them gaining employment. Sessions at the university as well as the help from individual tutors are useful in preparing them to make applications and attain interviews.’ (Sue Hiley External Examiner report 2014-15) Employability: 97% 97% in employment within 6 months of completing (2014/15) In the Primary Department Exit survey for 2014-15 96% of students reported that their training was very good/good in preparing them to identify and address their continuing professional development needs.

7 Excellence in teaching Outcomes: 97% In 2014-15 97% of students successful on a Final School Experience were graded good/outstanding 97% – 48% of whom were graded outstanding (8% increase on 2013-14) In the Primary Department Exit Survey 99% of students reported that they felt confident that their training would make them a good or better teacher

8 Excellence in teaching I've really enjoyed the interactive seminars and presentations. Staff are extremely enthusiastic and very professional. I enjoy our UPD days as it gives us all a chance to catch up and it is important to speak to your peers to check your own development against there's. I find it helpful to know what other people are doing in school so I can perhaps take some of this on myself. It is nice to see the lecturers and the tutors as well and be reminded that you have the support of the university. The staff who make up the teacher training team are brilliant. They are enthusiastic, passionate and want to encourage us to feel the same about teaching and learning with children. It was so good to meet up with my P group and talk to lecturers. Thank you! 10 Excellence in Support Students are supported to achieve well through strong pastoral care in both the university and in school. Each student has a personal tutor who supports them through the programme. There are timetabled workshops led by personal tutors which support students through School Experience and gaining QTS. Individual tutorials are also timetabled where students reflect upon personal targets with their tutor and identify areas for development “Members of staff are always approachable.” “Treat all as individuals.”
