2. Our Role We have three main missions: 1.Tell everyone at school about the Commissioner’s powers. 2.Tell everyone in school all about children’s rights and the UNCRC. 3.Do special missions for the Commissioner in school.

3. The Commissioner. This is Sally Holland – the Children’s Commissioner for Wales.

4. The Commissioner’s powers. Sally has five powers: 1.Listen to what you have to say. 2.Speak up about things that are important to you. 3.Tell you about your rights. 4.Help to make sure that you get your rights. 5.Talk to you if you have a problem. It is our job to help Sally do this in our school.

5. Children’s rights and the UNCRC There are 42 rights and it is our job to help make sure that they are happening here in school. Here is just a handful of the rights. The meaning of the UNCRC is ( UN CONVENTION ON THE RIGHTS OF THE CHILD.) The child's right to freedom of expression. The child's right to freedom of thought. The child's right to freedom of association. The child's right to privacy. The child's right to information from national There is a poster on the School Council display that sets out all the rights

6. Do special missions for the Commissioner in school. Every term Sally asks us to carry out a special mission. This term Sally wants to find out what issues are important to schools in Wales, so she has asked all children to complete the Beth Nesa survey. We hope that everyone has now done this and will let you know about the Spring term mission as soon as we have it.

7. Know your rights! Please take the time to look at the poster and find out what your rights are. Ask us if you have any questions. Next year’s Super Ambassadors will be elected from Year 5 in the Summer term – why not stand for election yourself?
