OLYMPIC MASCOT

The three 2010 Winter Olympic mascots are Quatchi, Miga and Sumi. Mukmuk is our electronic mascot. My favorurite mascot is Quatchi. He likes adventure but he is also very shy. He likes to have friends and loves playing hockey. Quatchi likes photography too. Because he is shy it is harder to make friends but he makes new friends all the time. I am just like Quatchi and we have a lot in common. For instance, we are both shy when we first meet someone. We both like playing hockey. I play hockey at recess with my friends. My favourite position is defense. I watch hockey at home with my dad. We love the Vancouver Canucks and the New Jersey Devils. I love exploring just like Quatchi. I go to Pipers Lagoon where I climb the rocks and folllow the trails. I pretend to be Deigo.. OLYMPIC MASCOT

MUKMUK Muckmuck is 2010 Olympic electronic mascot. He is very important too. Mukmuk is a nice Vancouver Island marmot. He and his fellow marmots are an endangered species and almost extinct. Mukmuk loves eating berries and sunbathing on logs. Some people wanted Mukmuk to be an official mascot so they started an online petition. It failed! Mukmuk cheers for his friends and all the athletes as they compete in the Olympic Games.

2010 VANCOUVER WINTER OLYMPICS LOGO The Olympic Logo stands for peace, friendship, cooperation and leadership. The Inuit Inukshuk is used as a stone marker for people traveling in the Arctic. It guides them through the windy snow. The Olympic Inukshuk is a mascot and has been named’’llanaaq’’which means “friend” in the native Inuit Inukitut language. The blue and green colours represent the West Coast islands, forest and mountains. The red represents the Canadian maple leaf and the gold represents the beautiful sunrises in downtown Vancouver. The smile on the Ilanaaq represents happiness.
