5. DESCRIPTIVE ESSAY Describe: to tell or depict in written or spoken words; give an account of Essay asks students to describe: Object Person Place Experience Situation Etc.

6. DESCRIPTIVE ESSAY Paint an image Create a mental image in reader’s mind Help reader feel like they are apart of the story

7. DESCRIPTIVE ESSAY Be cautious of word choice- be concise Use sensory language- smell, touch, feel, see, hear Use figurative language- simile, metaphor, onomatopoeia, alliteration, personification, hyperbole Help reader connect Don’t just tell…SHOW!!
