To provide an overview of NHS Evidence and introduction to searching for health information This tutorial is suitable for all clinical and non clinical staff interested in finding out more about health information and improving their research skills.

By the end of this tutorial you will: Have gained a clear understanding of the resources available via NHS Evidence. Have learnt how to perform a search on NHS Evidence; how to limit a search to search for specific resources and access full text information.

NHS Evidence is the key online health information resource for all NHS healthcare professionals. It brings together trusted high quality, evidence- based resources from a wide range of resources. NHS Evidence includes free full text access to many resources.

How do I access NHS Evidence?

NHS Evidence is accessible from any computer with internet access. Either type the URL below into your web browser: www.evidence.nhs.uk or do a Google search for NHS Evidence. www.evidence.nhs.uk

NHS Evidence will be the first search result.

NHS Evidence NHS Evidence is the key online information source for all healthcare professionals. It is a national collection of high quality evidence based information and is designed to make it quicker and easier for you to access the evidence you need. Content includes guidelines, patient information, systematic reviews, primary research and much more.

How to Search Type your search terms or phrases into the search box and click on

All the results that are relevant to your search topic will appear on screen The Filter by options on the left of the results page allow you to refine your search to highlight the most relevant information. Filters include types of information (e.g. Guidelines, systematic reviews, drug information), clinical query and published date.

To view the options available hover your mouse over your preferred filter. You can choose more than one filter e.g. Systematic Reviews and Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews. To select a filter click on the relevant category.

To view any of your results click on the title of the search result to be taken to the full text on the source site.

To return to the NHS Evidence homepage click on the NHS Evidence logo at the top of the page
