Eco-tourism 3 FUN FACTS ABOUT Ecotourism has a relatively short history. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the word “eco-tourism” did not come into being until the late 20 th -century. The real history behind eco-tourism is rooted in Africa, where people could go on eco- adventure tours. Some people think “eco-” and “tourism” contradict ( 矛盾 ) each other. They think tourism, in general, depends upon and increases air transportation, contributing significantly to greenhouse gas emissions.
