No one had regulated what the trusts (groups that control an entire industry) did They cut prices to get rid of competition. Later, raised prices (and profits!) Passed Sherman Anti-Trust Act in 1890 Made it illegal for companies to gain control of an industry to forming trusts. Enforced by Theodore Roosevelt when he became president in 1901 He got rid of all the trusts!

Jane Addams and others created hull houses- group homes in city slums to help poor urban residents Provides information to new immigrants Helped the unemployed find jobs Developed education centers for residents Created neighborhood health clinics Ran citizenship classes
