Russian Alphabet Part 1. AKMOT

There’re five letters in Russian that are quite similar to English letters: A, K, M, O and T. To make memorizing them easier we’ll use an abbreviation AKMOT. Part 1. AKMOT You shouldn’t confuse letters and sounds. A letter is the name of the symbol, A sound is how that letter sounds inside a word. For example, English letter ‘B’ is pronounced like [bi], but inside a word it sounds like [b]. Note that both of the English letters ‘A’ and ‘U’ can sound like Russian ‘A’ in different situations.

Part 1. AKMOT By now you should now that AKMOT are the only letters that are written the same and sound similarly both in English and in Russian. Make sure to go through the exercise at the end of the post.
