ANOVA By Heather Nydam-Fragapane
3
ANOVA Anova is an acronym for Analysis of Variance
4
ANOVA A statistical method for making simultaneous comparison between two or more means Determines whether a significant relation exists between variables; especially if there are more than two variables Used to accept or reject a null hypothesis
5
Simple Analysis of Variance A.K.A One-way Analysis of Variance Used when one factor is being studied The factor has multiple levels Only one grouping dimension Tests data between two groups Tests data within each group Tests both sets of data for comparison
6
Factorial Design More complex type of ANOVA Explores more than one treatment Compares variances Compares variables within a group Compares variables between groups
7
ANOVA Test Tested using an F-Test Tests differences between means Tests more than two groups on one factor The formula for the F-Test: F= MS between / MS within
