3 Background Task team comprising various stakeholders set up to capacitate government to construct and maintain rural roads. Funded by a special intervention grant from PT to tackle high profile and low hanging fruit projects Various stakeholders were requested to identify roads in need of upgrading, submission was received from ECPTA Mandate of intervention programme was limited to rural roads, but excluding provincial roads (ie only municipal roads) Focus on capacitation of district and local municipalities.

4 Current Status of Programme Business plan is being finalised for submission for funding over the 2016/17, 2017/18 and 2018/19 financial years. Qualifying roads that were submitted by the relevant stakeholders have been included in the draft business case

5 Summary of ECPTA Roads Included in the Draft 74.25km of qualifying roads were identified from the proposal from ECPTA, comprising 19.03km gravel and 55.21km earth / track roads Total cost is estimated at R40.74 comprising R7.61m for re-gravelling and R33.13m for reconstruction
