Fast Facts One of Australia’s most famous outback towns. The geographic centre of Australia – the surrounding area is known as the Red Centre, containing several different deserts. Gateway to the iconic natural features of Uluru- Kata Tjuta National Park

Very historical region Largest population of Aboriginal inhabitants. Unfortunately, crime is a significant social issue in Alice Springs.

Climate Extreme temperatures because there are no big bodies of water to provide the moderating effect. Average maximum temperature of 36°C in summer, and 5°C in winter.

Uluru (Ayers Rock) Major feature in the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park Sandstone rock formation that is sacred to the Aboriginal people of the area.

Famous for its changing colours at different time of the day and year. Climbing Uluru is a popular attraction; however, locals request that you don’t because of its spiritual significance, and also due to a sense of responsibility for the safety of visitors. The visitors guide says: "The climb is not prohibited, but we prefer that, as a guest on A ṉ angu land, you will choose to respect our law and culture by not climbing."

Kings Canyon For those who love to hike Located in the Watarrka National Park

There are three different tracks you can take 2km: ~1 hour 6km: 3-4 hours long – traces the top of the canyon. There is a steep climb at the beginning that local call “Heartbreak Hill” Half way during the walk you visit the “Garden of Eden” – A permanent waterhole. 22 km hike: popular with more adventurous hikers.
