2 Navigation En-route Procedures ICAO Flight Plan Cross-country trip to London (CYXU)

3 En-route Procedures Drift Correction 1.Double Angle Method 1.Closing Angle Method  Both methods assume  Holding heading accurately

4 En-route Procedures Double-Angle Method (before ½ way)  Use 10 0 drift lines to find Drift Angle  Double the angle, and change HDG by this much  Hold new HDG for a time equal to the time elapsed since you set your HDG  Once on track, change HDG back to the original HDG +/- the Drift Angle

5 En-route Procedures Closing Angle Method (after ½ way)  Use 10 0 drift lines to find Opening Angle  Use 10 0 drift lines to find Closing Angle  Add the Opening Angle and Closing Angle, then change HDG by this much  New HDG will be Direct to Destination

6 En-route Procedures Ground-speed Check In order to calculate velocity, we require distance and time… V = D / T Distance:2 known points 10 NM marks Latitude markings Time:Watch Times from “In Flight Log”
