3 2 We have a situation  There have been issues in class that warrant reminders about the class rules and good citizenship in our classroom community

4 3 Remember the class rules:  All school rules apply  Respect is mandatory  Safety is crucial  On time, on task  Professional learning environment  Business Language Only  Timely submission of assignments  Responsible for your own grade

5 4  These rules are not being followed by all of us  And we are all paying the price

6 What happens when the group follows these rules?

7 6 Positive results  You are treated as adults  You feel respected  Learning happens without distractions

8 7 When rules are followed:  You are self-directed, independent workers,  Each working toward a common end  Skill building and work readiness

9 8 When rules are followed:  This is an adult, comfortable place to work

10 What happens when these rules are broken, and people are disrespectful?

11 10 Price Tags of Disrespect  An uncomfortable, disrespectful environment  Learning is disrupted

12 11 Price Tags of Disrespect  You are treated as elementary school students

13 12 Price Tags of Disrespect  Privileges are revoked  You will be teacher driven, working to do just the assignments, with little independence or freedom  This becomes an oppressive, controlled environment

14 13  Specific consequences for poor behavior will be handed down

15 14 Repercussions  Student conference with teacher discussing behavior and expectations  Calls home  Detention  Referrals  Grade reductions - remember that participation is 1/3 of the grade

17 What kind of an environment would you prefer?

18 Choose!

19 18 What can you do?  What are your personal responsibilities in readjusting our workplace environment?

20 19 Decide…  What do we do as a team to make these adjustments?

21 20 Then…  How will be able to measure our level of success in setting a professional learning environment?

22 What do we want to do differently? How can we make that happen?

23 22 Remember  Your grade and your future are at stake!

24 It is up to everyone, as a group, to open the doors of success…
