3 Text-Based Writing Component The Rubrics FINAL Writing Rubrics released Biggest changes to all grade level rubrics were in the overarching statements Analytic Rubric with three domains (PFO, EE, Conventions) “Generally” and “adequately” added to score point 3 in PFO (Grades 4-11) Students must explicitly cite evidence for a score point of 3 in EE, which is why there can be the 4- 2 split in score

14 4 th Grade will be paper based and scored by humans 10 th will be only grade level scored by two humans (Graduation Requirement) All other grades will be scored by human and AI If computer and human have a difference of 1 score point, the score defers to the human Utah has shown no difference between AI scoring and human scoring We will not be told how much of a percentage the ELA FSA Writing Component will be worth Writing will be reported as a single ELA score ( writing score reported will be scaled) No text talk, emoticons! Teach students to do a hard return because it is more difficult to indent in computer based testing platform We are teaching academic writing Text evidence is WHAT is important; elaboration is WHY it is important Ex. “Ready-made clothing required buttons and zippers in clothes.” Why: This is notable because these changes added quality and time to people’s lives as they no longer had to wait on a tailor to sew them into their clothes.
