Subsystem Design Review Bernie Garcia, Zach Louison, Mike Purcell, Joe Bernardini, Elijah Sensenig
2
Team Vision - What we accomplished I focused on creating an excel sheet with the relationships between mass, levitation and magnetic fields (Elijah) Worked on improving and solidifying elements of design. Also began research into purchasing DC motor (Zach) Studied and made spreadsheets on thrust and power, while studying propellers, and created CAD models of the propellers (Bernie)
3
Team Vision - What we plan to do Create a generic electromagnet power board, and look into creating or purchasing a BLDC (Elijah) Continuing work on revising designs, with some focus on the enclosure (Zach) Focus on making the entire system on CAD and learn how to use the flow analysis on Solid Works (Bernie)
4
Feasibility: Analysis- Thrust Calculations
5
Feasibility: Analysis- Power Calculations
6
Magnetic Levitation Feasibility
7
Drawings, Schematics, Flow Charts, etc.
9
Propeller Designs - CAD Models
10
Propeller Design - CAD Sheets
11
Propeller Design - Pugh Chart and Details Hydro propellers usually have 3-5 blades Less blades=more efficient, less resistance, but needs large hull diameter More blades=reduced noise, more disk area covered, smoother & uniform performance, but causes turbulence and disrupts water flow
12
Bill of Materials (BOM) Feasibility Construct a motor from scratch Purchase an ‘off the shelf’ motor Projected budget for designing/building a motor Purchase a brushless DC motor for roughly $300 Rough Estimate of Motor Construction Budget
