Verbals: Gerunds as Subjects Verbal – a verb form that acts as a noun, an adjective, or an adverb Three types – gerund, infinitive, and participle Gerund – a verb ending in ing and functioning as a noun. To determine if a verb is a gerund: Find the simple predicate Find the simple subject Stair-step diagramming on stilts – see board
