District4 Production Warehouse Move Project Courses Of Action For The Time Schedule PRESENTED BY: Institution Affiliation:
2
Factors Affecting The Project Time Schedule Receiving the proper building permits will take 1 week longer than the stipulated time Framing and dry wall contractors are running late on their other jobs and are likely to double the schedule
3
Course of actions considered Based on the factors listed above, the project manager considers the following courses of actions: I.Negotiating a revised delivery date with the sponsors II.Determining whether part of the project can be completed by the time stipulated with the rest to be completed later III.Adding resources in the key areas affected IV.Asking the team in the areas affected to work over time
4
The project manager narrowed down on the following two courses of actions: I. Adding resources in the key areas affected II. Ask the team working in the areas affected to consider working overtime Best two courses of actions
5
Option 1 (Crashing costs) For making time-costs trade-offs, accurate estimates regarding the time and costs need to be established. The following are put into consideration: Normal Time (NT)= expected project duration without crashing Normal Cost (NC)= expected project cost without crashing Crash Time (CT)= expected project duration with crashing Crash Cost (CC)= expected project cost with crashing
6
Profits through sales volume Integrated marketing Profits through customer satisfaction The normal tine is the longest expected duration for the project while the crash time is the shortest duration for the project. The difference (NT-CT) represents the time gained and traded off for the cost (CC-NC). Usually, normal cost is less than the crash cost. In this case, (CC- NC)= $200000, which needs to be traded off with the difference (NT-CT); the extra time needed to complete the schedule on time.
7
Option 2 (Working overtime) The project manager is considering to ask the framing and dry wall contractors to work over time in order to meet the deadline. However, this course of action will require a great level of persuasion to the contractors.
8
Based on the above details, the project manager therefore seeks the approval of the top management in order to go ahead with the implementation of these courses of action to aid in the completion of the project by the time scheduled.
