VIIRS DNB passed through California with Yosemite National Park right in the center of the pass the night of August 23 (0949Z; 2:49 am) The NCC Imagery EDR for this granule was pulled from the AFWA IDPS Two examples are shown, the first is with no enhancements at all, the second is with Histogram Equalization To gain perspective on the size of the fire, the cities of San Francisco and Las Vegas are noted The upside down “u” shape is due to the center being burned through Smoke is more evident in the enhanced NCC image (note the wispy appearance north of the fire) The moon is nearly full, one reason this NCC Image works very well T.
