Your exam is 2 hours long and worth 120 marks. It works out at a mark a minute.

You will need a pencil, a pen, some colours, a sharpener and a rubber. Borrow mine if needed but please bring them back at the end.

When answering a drawing question press lightly until you are happy with the shape then add colour and black pen.

You get marks for showing a range of presentation skills, so use your 3d drawing skills to maximum effect.
When you have finished, look back at your drawings and ask yourself, do they make sense and would someone else be able to make this product using these drawings and notes?
As you read the question underline the key words, make sure you know what it is asking and that you have answered this.
Make sure you have covered the topic of the question you are answering, e.g food/ textiles/ ceramics. You will need to know details of construction techniques and materials and we havent covered these.

Annotate everything
Seem to of finished a long time before everyone else? Have you filled in all of the pages?
Look at how many marks are awarded and how many lines you have to answer the question. If it’s a two mark question and you have two lines, why not bullet point?

If your not sure steer clear of just re writing the question, it wastes time and space.

4. Objective: To ace your GCSE
Section A is the design question. You will have a mood board and need to design something for someone reflecting the moodboard.
You will need to write a design specification for the product, and the question will end with you evaluating your product against the specification.
Remember it is ok that your product didn’t meet your specification but you need to say why and what you would do about it.
The Catch: This question will take you a large chunk of time, why don’t you come back to it at the end once you have completed section B. Read through it though so you can think about it whilst you are doing section B

5. This is the knowledge section. Show what you know!

Section B:
This is the knowledge section. Show what you know!
A big feature of the show what you know section is the big mark question. It usually starts with :
“You are going to design and make a product that will be manufactured in school/some other place in batches of 200.”
Make sure you read this question fully from the start to the finish. They will ask you how you would make a batch of this product, then ask you to draw the process. When you pick a process make sure you can draw it.

We don’t know any more than this but I think its safe to assume that you will have to come up with a fragrance product and then package it with everything in between.
