Inquire of the Lord  Ramoth Gilead was in territory of Israel on east side of Jordan Former city of refuge  Syria controlled Ramoth Gilead  On King’s Highway – trade route  Jehoshaphat tells Ahab to inquire of the Lord before they go into battle

Lessons  Inquire of the Lord (David) 1 Samuel 22:10, 13, 15 1 Samuel 23:2, 4 1 Samuel 30:8 2 Samuel 2:2 2 Samuel 5:19, 23 1 Samuel 22:10 "And he inquired of the LORD for him, 13 …and have inquired of God for him 15 … begin to inquire of God for him 'Speak, LORD, for Your servant hears 1 Samuel 3:9 Therefore Eli said to Samuel, "Go, lie down; and it shall be, if He calls you, that you must say, 'Speak, LORD, for Your servant hears.'"

Prophets of Baal  Ahab calls his 400 prophets  “Shall I go to fight or not?”  “Go up, for the Lord will deliver it into the hands of the king”  Jehoshaphat is not satisfied Where is a prophet of the Lord? the truth Proverbs 23:23 Buy the truth, and do not sell it, Also wisdom and instruction and understanding. Psalm 119:160 The entirety of Your word is truth Psalm 33:4 For the word of the LORD is right John 17:17 "Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth Do you want the truth? ALWAYS???

Micaiah  Ahab doesn’t want Micaiah  “He always prophesies evil for me”  While waiting for Micaiah The kings are dressed in royal robes; sitting on thrones Prophets of Baal continue before them Zedekiah – you will gore the Syrians until they are dead Truth!!

Micaiah  “Whatever the Lord says to me, I will speak”  Comes before Ahab  “Go and prosper”  Ahab knew better truth Tell me the truth  “Israel will be scattered” defeated Truth!!

1 Kings 22:19-23  1 Kings 22:19 Then Micaiah said, "Therefore hear the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on His throne, and all the host of heaven standing by, on His right hand and on His left. "And the LORD said, 'Who will persuade Ahab to go up, that he may fall at Ramoth Gilead?' So one spoke in this manner, and another spoke in that manner. "Then a spirit came forward and stood before the LORD, and said, 'I will persuade him.'

1 Kings 22:19-23 a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets  22 "The LORD said to him, 'In what way?' So he said, 'I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.' And the LORD said, 'You shall persuade him, and also prevail. Go out and do so.' "Therefore look! The LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these prophets of yours, and the LORD has declared disaster against you."

Reaction  Zedekiah strikes Micaiah  Ahab sends Micaiah to prison Feed him bread and water Hold him until I return from battle  Micaiah—if you return at all, the Lord has not spoken through me  Micaiah warns the people

Lessons  Others may attempt to deceive As if telling the truth  Who we believe is up to us  We can reject what God tells us Make our choice (to go or to not)  God’s prophecies are accurate and will be fulfilled Galatians 1:8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. Deuteronomy 12:32 "Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; you shall not add to it nor take away from it. Genesis 3:4 Then the serpent said to the woman, "You will not surely die. 1 John 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. Matthew 24:4 And Jesus answered and said to them: "Take heed that no one deceives you. Open your ears and you can hear anything you want to hear.
