The application process $85,000 for senior class

2 Booklet Categories: • 4 YR. Bachelor’s Degree –
Includes UW-Baraboo & Madison College (Liberal Arts Transfer) • 2 YR. Associate’s Degree – Other Madison College programs and technical colleges • Open to ALL attending college What degree will you complete?

3 Scholarship Criteria:
• College you will attend • Major or field of study • Rank / GPA • Involvement in clubs, sports, organizations Which scholarships do you qualify for?

7 #1) Career Plan Essay of future plans/what has led to your decision…
• College and career aspirations • Interests that influenced your decision and why • Skills and talents that you possess for this career • HS coursework preparation for this career • Work experience that leads toward your career

8 #2) Financial Need Essay of economic status/family background
• Parent’s education and occupations • Special circumstances: - disability/illness single parent - unemployment incarceration - foreclosure • Cost of college tuition • Paying for your education: - money saved for college - part-time employment

9 #3) Resume • Highlights of high school
• Use Resume Builder to start, export to Word • Limit to one page, make visually attractive

10 Show evidence that you’re a deserving candidate

11 Honors and Awards • Medals in music • Awards in art or writing
• Certificates in technical fields • Placement in competitions

12 Leadership and Service
• Class offices held • Projects in the community • Officer in organizations • Crew leader on the job • Leadership in sports teams • Evidence of fund raising

13 Consider your audience
Who will be reading your essays? Business people, grandparents, retired community members.

14 Proofread Essays: “Please consider me for your scholarship,
I won’t take my education for granite.” Don’t take spell check for “GRANTED” either.

Show different aspects of you: 1. Academic Abilities – teacher 2. Work Ethic – employer, coach 3. Community Involvement – advisors, clergy, leaders

Assemble Packets Scholarship Application - 1. Career Plan 2. Financial Need 3. Resume 4. Letters of Recommendation 5. Other Requirements 6. Transcript (school provides) Show an application packet from last year. Hold it up.
