Australian Political Parties Ideology!

Australian Labor Party The Australian Labor Party (ALP) is one of the two major political parties in Australia. The party which was formed in 1891, is the oldest political party in Australia. They are a social democratic party with strong links to the Trade Union movement. The first meeting of the ALP is said to have taken place in Barcaldine Queensland in 1891.A group of shearers, who were involved in a big strike action, held a meeting in the shade of a large ghost gum tree. Labor's constitution states: "The Australian Labor Party is a democratic socialist party and has the objective of the democratic socialisation of industry, production, distribution and exchange, to the extent necessary to eliminate exploitation and other anti-social features in these fields.

Liberal Party of Australia The Liberal Party of Australia is one of the two major Australian political parties. Founded in 1945. The centre-right Liberal Party competes with the centre-left Labor Party. Federally, the Liberal Party runs in a Coalition with the National Party of Australia. Strong opposition to socialism and communism in Australia and internationally was one of the foundation principles of the Liberal Party.

National Party Of Australia It began as the Australian Country Party, and then adopted the name the National Country Party in 1975. The party's name was changed to the National Party of Australia in 1982. Traditionally representing graziers, farmers and rural country voters.

Australian Greens 20 years ago in North Sydney at a small press conference the Australian Greens was launched as a national political party. Their goals are for good economic management as a means taking care of our earth. The Greens speak on behalf of those who wouldn’t otherwise get much of a say inside parliament: children, refugees, students, individuals and families living in poverty and, of course, our natural environment.

Katter’s Australian Party Katter's Australian Party is a registered political party by former independent member Bob Katter in Australia on 3 June 2011. The party's policies closely mirror those of Katter, including support for agricultural interests, opposition to privitisation and deregulation, and strong conservatism on social policy.

Democratic Labor Party The DLP was formed as a result of a split in the Australian Labor Party (ALP) that began in 1954. The majority of the Victorian branch was dominated by a faction composed largely of ideologically driven anti- Communist Catholics.
