Dogs as pets. Pets come in many sizes, shapes, breeds and personalities, something that can be said for their owners as well. People choose pets for many reasons, but sometimes pets choose their people. Regardless, the bond shared between a pet and its owner develops over time and rarely is broken. Cats, dogs, birds, fish, hamsters and other creatures require not only human love and kindness but also food, medical care, training and shelter.

Dogs as pets. Do the dogs disturb other people? Unfortunately, there are dogs which attack people and bark a lot. There is a regulation in the city Legislature that dogs’ owners must take measures to prevent noise in residential areas caused by barking dogs from 10.0 p.m. to 08.0 a.m. But, as a famous saying says, “barking dogs don't bite”.

Stray dogs. Are there stray dogs in your area? Probably you walked down the street and saw a gang of dogs. These gangs can be from 6 to 13 and more dogs. There have been cases when a gang attacked children or adults. Regardless of age almost 80% of cases were disastrous. They attack from behind quietly and then a sharp bite follows and then they escape to nowhere. There are cases that packs of dogs stay in the yard. Residents even get scared. In fact we do not understand what they can do the next moment. We conducted a survey of classmates. We asked them this question: Does your district have stray dogs?

They are brought there by people who want to help the poor animals. They carry them to clinics, treat them, and then they are in a shelter until people take them home. In our city, there is a shelter called “Dobroye Serdtse (Good heart)".

Stray dogs. Are there asylums for dogs? Chisinau, Moldova: Now six shelters for stray dogs are opened in the suburbs of Chisinau, but neither of them with contribution from the state. All are founded by individuals with money collected from donations. The largest shelters for stray dogs are “Live” and “Isle of Hope”. Currently the “Live”shelter is home to about 200 stray dogs, many of whom were abused, abandoned or never knew what it’s like to live in a warm and safe home. Adoptions also remain very rare. Considering our financial situation, most of the times the shelters can offer the dogs only one meal per day.
