The Answer  The answer is 1. 102\9=11r3 2. Mrs. Monet will put 11 pieces of drawing on each art table, with 3 left over.

A Gift Lee has 3 dollars. Chris has three dollars. Lee and Chris want to buy their mom a gift. The gift costs five dollars and fifty cents. A gift tag costs 28 cents. Lee and Chris both want to pay an equal amount for the gift and tag. What do Lee and Chris each pay for the gift and tag? Show all your mathematical thinking.

The Answer  The answer is 1. 3+3=6 2. $6-5.50=50cents 3. $5.50+28cents=$5.75 4. $6-$5.78=22cents 5. 578/2=289 6. They will each pay $2.89.

Grandfather has $49 in his wallet. Gianna says they can’t have an equal amount of Grandfather’s money. Jane says they can have an equal amount of Grandfather’s money. Who is correct? Show all your mathematical thinking.

The Answer 1. $49\4= $12.25 2. Jane is correct. 3. They can each have $12.25 without any money left over.

Sharing Jelly Beans There are 588 jelly beans in a bowl. Hector, Michael, and Jolene decided to share the jellybeans equally. How many jelly beans do they each get? Their mother tells them that they cannot eat all the jelly beans at once. They can each eat an equal amount of jelly beans for 4 days. How many jelly beans do they each eat for 4 days? Show all your mathematical thinking.

The Answer 1. 588/3=196 2. They each get 196 jelly beans. 3. 196/4=49 4. It takes them 4 days to finish all the jelly beans by eating 49 jelly beans per day. 5. 49x4=196 6. They each eat 196 jelly beans in four days.
