MINISTRY OF HIGHER EDUCATION & TRAINING 2 The Department of Higher Education and Training operates within wider Government, with Dr Blade Nzimande, Minister of Higher Education and Training as the Executive Authority. DEPARTMENT OF HIGHER EDUCATION & TRAINING 3 DHET Director General responsible for entire remit of higher education and training, including Universities, Skills, SETA’s and VCET branches. VCET branch currently made up of TVET and CET and managed by a Deputy Director-General. Future proposal is to have 2 separate branches for TVET and CET respectively. COLLEGE STRUCTURES 8 Structures not yet finalised, except for senior management posts in TVET colleges Principal, DP Corporate, DP Finance, DP Academic, DP Registra, PRAID (Partnerships & Innovation) Other posts dependent on Post Provisioning Norms Model to be finalised end of 2015 PPN to recommend min level and type of posts for college to function effectively Flexibility to adjust outside of min posts dependent on enrolment and costs of programmes
