3. Hoosier Impressionists Around 1890, a group of Indiana painters named the Hoosier Impressionists began to develop a loose, textural painting style using harmonious colors. Nature was usually the subject of their artwork. John Ottis Adams, William Forsyth, Theodore Clement Steele, and Otto Stark are among the artists included in the museum's collection.
