Serguei Toutounov was born in 1958 in Moscow (Russia) in an artist- painters family. From his early childhood, under the guidance of his father, he follows a regular and systematic training in drawing and painting. At that time, in Moscow, the requirements for the professional qualification of the painter were high. It is for this reason that the training there was more comprehensive. On the other hand the artistic community was faithful to the heritage of the last century, who considered that art was through sacrifices. Although such a position is debatable especially from the religious point of view, it was still incredibly motivating and energizing scope for training and work in the fields of art. And this is especially confirmed in the context of Soviet life highly regulated and without prospects. Indeed, the own initiative could only be accomplished only through the development of its abilities.

To Serguei, his greatest achievement was the ability to maintain the same spirit of the artistic movement to which his father belonged. From 1974- 1980, he continued his training as a painter at the Surikov Art Institute in Moscow, where he graduated as an easel painter. In 1982 he married a French from Russia and moved to Paris. Since 1983 he lives in Paris. From that moment, the artistic activity of the painter takes place mainly in Paris. And as the work from nature remains essential in his painting, most of his paintings are painted in France. Perfectly integrated into the social life in France with a very strong artistic activity, it will not be influenced by the modern trends of art. Through his works, Serguei Toutounov tries to minimize this modern mind. This tends to be the least influenced as possible also determined the character of the exhibition Toutounov, during which he favors direct contact with his audience, having not used the services of galleries and art critics. Nevertheless it welcomes every year tens of thousands of visitors during its exhibitions.
