2 *Bill Cosby* For over thirty years he has been the worlds most respected entertainers and comedians. The Cosby Show, appeared on NBC from 1984 to 1992, becoming one of the most popular situation comedies in TV history.

3 *Fredrick Douglass* Douglass published his autobiography, Narrative of the life of Fredrick Douglass an American Slave. He conferred with Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War and retrieved northern blacks for the union Army.

4 *Harriet Tubman* Harriet Tubman was a runaway slave from Maryland who became known as the Moses of her people. She created the Underground Railroad to free slaves.

5 *Carter G. Woodson* Known as the father of black history Woodson was the son of former slaves, and understood how important gaining a proper education. Dr. Woodson founded the Association for the Study of Negro Life and history.

6 *Oprah Winfrey* Oprah Winfrey has used her talk show to publicize The Angel Network. The Angel Network is the first charity focused on getting people involved.
