Dihybrid Corn Lab intro- how do you determine if genes are located on separate chromosomes or are linked on the same chromosome? If the TWO genes are located on separate (NON-Homologous) chromosomes, then their OBSERVED patterns of inheritance should “Match” the Expected patterns of inheritance predicted by doing a dihybrid cross

Dihybrid Corn Lab intro
Purpose: To determine if the 2 characteristics in a dihybrid cross are transmitted together or each characteristic is inherited independently (because the different genes are located on different chromosomes) Characteristics: kernel color: Purple v. Yellow Kernel shape: smooth v. wrinkled PPSS ppss PpSs PpSs ?
4
Hypothesis1: If the 2 characteristics in a dihybrid cross are transmitted together, then the phenotype ratio of the F2 generation will be ___ Purple Smooth to ___ yellow wrinkled
5
Hypothesis : If the 2 characteristics in a dihybrid cross are transmitted independently on non-homologous chromosomes, then the phenotype ratio of the F2 generation will be … ___ Purple Smooth to ___ Purple wrinkled to ___ Yellow Smooth ___ Yellow wrinkled

Gather raw phenotype data Analyze data
Use statistical analysis called “Chi squared (2 ) statistical test”
