1 Week 8 Objective & Bell Work & Exit Question –Day 1 Monday Objectives: The student will: Performing touch typing by keying words, numbers, sentences and paragraphs (ongoing) Continue MSChoices account for 7 th grade ICT1 students and exploring careers. Pre-Bell Question: Create a science/ social studies topic or question you would like to research on the Internet. What is Word Processing? - Bell Work *Explain in your own words, your career that you are interested and why? Or *Discuss what is a job and what is a career. *See Tech Terms

2 Monday Daily Agenda Have students to complete Pre Bell –Explain in your own words, the difference between a job and a career. The student will participate in discussion of the Mississippi Career Pathways Model. Place copy of model in his/her notebook. Teacher will introduce Career Exploration Unit by introducing a video on Exploring Careers. (See page 36 in ICT textbook for 16 National Careers Cluster- and discuss career activity on page 37. Students will view above video on Exploring Careers—You Tube. Students will complete Choices Explorer Timeline-Day 1—Creating New Portfolio (student account) by logging in on http://MSChoices.com if not created, and students will continue to work on Differentiated Activities on Edu Typing:http://MSChoices.com Differentiated Activities and Remedial -Continue Edu Typing at your level. (This week Lessons 17-19) Enrichment Activities: Students will work in ICT textbook review keyboarding Lesson 3-13 Review page 92 in order to build speed and accuracy. Homework: Create summary from what career you are interested in after viewing career video and Day 1 lesson.

4 DAY 2 BELL WORK –Tuesday Dec. 10th OBJECTIVE: The student will: Exploring Academic Foundations through Choices Explorer. Performing touch typing by keying words, numbers, sentences and paragraphs (ongoing) Pre-Bell Question Choose one What is self- esteem? Explain in your own words how you think a person’s self- esteem can affect his or her in the workplace.

5 Tuesday Daily Agenda – Have students to complete Pre Bell Question in Blackboard- Explain in your own words how you think a person’s self-esteem can affect his or her in the workplace. – The teacher will review previous lesson from Day 1 and check homework/share orally. – The students will Log into www.MSChoices.com and complete Basic Skills Survey and complete handout on “Do Your Skills Match Your Ambitions?” Students will take assessment to determine a list of careers that aligned with students’ interest and skills. (Self-Assessment )www.MSChoices.com – Teacher will discuss colleges/universities/apprenticeship with students. – Students will read and research top ten careers from results of interest self- assessment. Differentiated Activities and Remedial -Continue Edu Typing at your level. This week Lessons 17-19. 7 DAY 3 OBJECTIVE & BELL WORK OBJECTIVE-DAY 3 The student will: Exploring Academic Foundations through Choices Explorer Introduce students to computer science career by participating in the Hour of Code activity Demonstrate proper hand, finger, and body position when using a keyboard (ongoing). BELL WORK Question–WED. Explain what kind of working conditions are important to you.

8 Day 3 Daily Agenda Have students to complete Pre Bell –Explain what kind of working conditions are important to you. The teacher will introduce lesson and explain the purpose of MS Choices and Hour of Code. The students will complete a Differentiated Activities-The Hour of Code-go to www.code.org www.code.org The students will continue activity on MS Choices by logging on http://MSChoices.com and completing activity from Day 2, if not completed. http://MSChoices.com After students complete activity in Choices Explorer, students will continue to: – Differentiated Activities-Continue Edu Typing at your level. – Enrichment Activities --work in ICT textbook review keyboarding Lesson 3-14 page 94 in order to build speed. The teacher will wrap up lesson with an oral review. Homework: Create 10 job related questions you would ask at a job interview. Homework due Thursday!

(ongoing) integrate Language Art activity in ICT1 Integrate Language Arts (writing and communications) skills as its relates to career paths Pre Bell Question- Day 4— Some people think sales people are “phony”, that they will tell you anything to convince you to buy. Do you think this is a fair description of people in Sales Careers? Explain

11 Day 4 Daily Agenda – Have students to complete Pre Bell Question-Day 4—Some people think sales people are “phony”, that they will tell you anything to convince you to buy. Do you think this is a fair description of people in Sales Careers? Explain. – The teacher will review concepts and skills study this week on MS Choices and introduce lesson on Careers in Writing and Talking –Related to Language Arts. – The Students will follow directions on the computer/handout on Careers in Writing and Talking Related to Language Arts. – By logging in: www.mschoices.com to complete the above activitywww.mschoices.com Differentiated Activities-Continue Edu Typing at your level. Remedial Activities: Students will continue to work in ICT textbook review keyboarding Lesson 3-15 page 95 in order to build speed and accuracy Enrichment Activity: The student will complete a Language Arts Integration Activity-O’Henry- Across the Curriculum and discuss orally. Wrap up with a review. Homework: Continue Studying Keyboarding Skills.

12 Week 8 Day 4 Thurs. Exit Question After today lesson, explain your various keyboarding techniques in this lesson that you used.

13 DAY 5 OBJECTIVE & BELL WORK The student will: ICT1 3 &4—Demonstrate their strengths and weaknesses on review o KEYBOARDING Unit 4. Pre Bell Question-Day 5: Describe in your own words why do you think researching a career is important.. Or Why writing and other communication skills (or lack of them) will play a major role in determining success on the job?

14 Day 5--Daily Agenda Pre Bell Question-Day 5: Describe in your own words why do you think researching a career is important. Or Why writing and other communication skills (or lack of them) will play a major role in determining success on the job? Teacher will introduce lesson and give the purpose. Students will complete a keyboarding quiz and turn in for evaluation. Have students to post comments and questions from MS Choices activities completed this week on the Canvas Discussion Board for students to discuss information learned. Classwork: Students will complete Edu Typing lessons for this week. Closure: The teacher will wrap up lesson with an oral review.
