Build Background The Egyptians believed that humans had both a physical body and spiritual body. This spiritual body, or life force, was call the ka and was distinct from the ba, or soul. They believed that if the physical body was preserved after death and the tomb furnished with the various objects of daily life, the ka could return.

Archetype An archetype is a symbol, an image, or a story pattern that recurs in literature and evokes strong responses, often based on subconscious memory. An ancient divine ruler, such as Osiris, who taught his people essential skills is an example of the archetype of the cultural hero. What archetype does Seth represent?
