Bisque ware - Ceramics wear that has gone through the firing Bone dry – stage were moisture has completely evaporated Firing – heating clay to temp high enough the render it hard and durable Flange – a clay ridge that holds the lid on the pot Foot – the base of the pot Glaze – a coating the glass that is fuse to the surface of a ceramic piece

Shrinkage – the reduction of size in the clay piece during the drying process Slabbing – a hand building technique that involves shaping the clay into a flat thick piece Slip – liquid clay used to join parts Template – a pattern of stencil used to shape the profile of a piece Under glaze – highly pigmented colored slips or englobes that can be painted on leather hard clay Wedging – working the clay with your hands to remove air bubbles
