Physicals You must have a physical later than May 15, 2011. Students new to the school district must have a new physical Check in Activities if not sure what the date is of your physical.

MSHSL Rule (Bylaw 107.00) If your son/daughter is seen or treated by a physician for an injury or serious illness, they must bring a written note from the physician before they can return to practice or play in a game. This is for the student’s protection as well as to keep everyone informed as to the student’s readiness

Concussion Testing Baseline testing – Tool used to determine brain function under normal conditions – Approx. 30 minute computerized test – Retake baseline test every 2 years

Concussion Testing Post Concussion Testing – Taken only if a concussion has occurred – Taken once symptom free – Used to determine if the athlete needs to be held out from activity longer, not to return them back to participation sooner. – $20 post test

Grade Checks will be every two weeks. If failing on first grade check, student will have two weeks to get grades up. If failing any class at quarter, ineligible for two weeks Academic Eligibility

Attendance Regulations If Student is absent, he/she will not participate in co- curricular events on that day A Professional note will need to be given to the Activities Office in order for the student to participate

Sobering Statistics: Athletes need to be fast on their feet and quick to react, but alcohol impairs reaction time for up to 12 hours after consumption. Before a high school athlete even steps foot onto the field, court, ice, water, etc., overall performance potential is lowered by about 11.4% after recent heavy drinking. Athletes who drink are twice as likely to become injured, as well as, more likely to get sick. American Athletic Institute, 2011

Your Choices = Who You Are Honor and Character – are you doing the “right thing” when no one is watching? If you choose to use alcohol or drugs, how will your choice impact your teammates, coaches, parents and your future? How will you support and influence your teammates to do the “right thing” when coaches or parents are not around?

Suspension In school suspension for more than one period or out of school suspension shall result in no participation of co-curricular activities for the day CODE OF CONDUCT

Transportation Participants in co-curricular activities are required to ride the bus to and from events Parents must have a written request given to the Activities office beforehand if they wish to have their student ride home with another adult Parents may take their own son or daughter home if arrangements are made prior to the event
