Putting the “Merry” back into Christmas (Part 2)

Bondage of Comparison “I’M NOT…” “I WISH…” The devil’s powerful arsenal that has the power to destroy our confidence and rob us of happiness. “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free” (Gal. 5:1)

“Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else,” (Galatians 6:4)

Overcoming the “Bondage of Comparison” 1) Be humble before God & others “Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought; rather think of yourself with sober judgment” (Romans 12:3)

Bondage of Comparison 2)Keep evaluating yourself and make any necessary improvements “Imitate me as I also imitate Christ.” (1 Cor. 11:1)

Bondage of Comparison “No one who honestly brings his or her life before God in this kind of way is going to have any interest in comparing himself to somebody else. This kind of honest scrutiny will [usher] in confession, not competition, in humility, not in vain glory.” (New American Commentary)

Bondage of Comparison 3)Focus on what you need to do without pointing out what someone else is not doing. God will judge us according to what we have done with what He has given us … never comparing us to what someone else has done.
