2 Living in the 20’s Houses in the 20’s usually ranged from $6000-$7800. A $7800 home includes a large living room with a fireplace, a dining room with a beamed ceiling, a kitchen with built in cabinets, 4 large bedrooms, and a 3 piece bathroom- hot water heated.

3 Cost of Living in the 20’s Everything seems cheaper in the 1920’s because the dollar was worth more. Back in the 20’s a dollar could buy more than one thing, now a days you can’t barely get anything for a dollar. Since the money was worth more, not as much of it was made. Examples: 1kg sugar $0.18 1kg bread $0.17 1kg potatoes $0.04 1L milk $0.04 1kg butter $0.95

4 Roles of Family Members The Father was the head of the house hold, major wage earner, and in charge of disciplining the kids. Women still made meals and took care of the home but with new advances in appliances it made it easier and gave them more time to do other things, like get a job.

5 Family Activities In the 20’s family time was more appreciated, and they spent more time as a family together. At meal times everyone in the house hold ate together at the dining room table. There were many more activities, such as: Picnicking Camping Swimming Sledding And just getting together when ever possible.
