2 Cross off in lesson plan Due to the loss of two days with the state’s snow day exemption, cross off in this lesson the following: Quiet Question Type Two Prompt on Tiananmen Square Poem You Tube Film Clips on Atomic Bombs

3 Day One: Quiet Question: Type Two Prompt: You and your partner will select ONE of the three poems written about the Tiananmen Square Massacre to work with. You should use Active Reading Strategies on the post-its and NOT ON THE CLASS SET of the poems as you work through the chosen poem. Chosen Poem: Lines From PoemHistorical Connection to Notes-Specifics Explained

4 Day One: Class: As we have seen in this unit thus far in the 20 th century, many crimes against humanity have taken place under imperialism, during China’s Civil War, during World War Two, and under Communists dictators. Well, America also committed a similar crime with the dropping of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and due to the extensive damage of the two bombs, America then helped to rebuilt Japan. Class: We are going to watch two film clips from You Tube on the dropping of the atom bombs. – You Tube: “Hiroshima Atomic Bomb and Aftermath” that runs 6:09 minutes – You Tube: “BBC Hiroshima: Dropping the Bomb” that runs 4:35 minutes

5 Day One: Wednesday, June 11, 2014--- Instead of Group Jigsaw Ms. Barben is going to do most of her Post- War Japan Powerpoint, and you are to take notes in the provided graphic organizer. Homework: Work on Notebook and Study Guide for Final. Notebooks: Just Collins Prompts and Maps---- Not Graphic Organizers, Reading, Etc… will be collected tomorrow!

6 Day Two: Thursday, June 12, 2014 East Asia Unit Notebooks will be collected! Ms. Barben is going to finish her Post-War Japan Powerpoint. Homework: Work on Study Guide for Final. Go over old unit tests to help study.

7 Final Exams Schedule Thursday, June 12: Foreign Language Final and Shortened Class Periods Friday, June 13: Math and English Finals and Half Day----Extended Testing Time in Afternoon Monday, June 16: Science and Social Studies Finals and Half Day----Extended Testing Time in Afternoon Tuesday, June 17: Make Up Final Exam Day
