YouTube link for project squirrel MENU Screen 1: Home Screen Description of interaction: This is the design of the Home Page of the app. Once the user chooses this App from the menu, this page opens up. It has a YouTube link to what the project is about and what the citizen scientist can do to participate in this project. I think having a link to video will consume less screen space than giving a written description of the entire project. This media player will be the standard YouTube embedded player with all the YouTube player controls. Below that, I propose 3 Rounded rectangles as touch screen buttons. What the buttons will do is self explanatory. The first button is to record they squirrel observation. This button takes the user to the Survey Screen. The second button is for user to share their squirrel stories. The third button is for the users to share their squirrel pictures. MENU Screen 2: Survey Description of interaction: This is the first page of the survey. The textbox for entering date, time and zipcode will act be filled in with default values. The default date will be the current date. The default time will be the current time. And the default zipcode will be the zipcode where the user currently is. If the user wishes to change the zipcode, tap the button. If the user taps on the date button, a calendar control will be displayed from which the date can be chosen. If the user taps on Time button, keypad will be displayed. If the user taps on zip code, Gray Squirrel numbers or Fox Squirrel numbers the number pad will be opened. This screen is scrollable. The Menu on the top of the page lets the user navigate to different pages from this screen instead having to go through many back and forward redirects. Date (Tap the icon to change the date) 02/28/11 Time (Tap the icon to change time) 3:00 PM 60607 MENU Screen 3: Calendar Control Description of interaction: On tapping the Date button, the standard Android DatePicker will be displayed. The user can easily select the desired date from the DatePicker. This utility is provided in the application to avoid input format validation. The user is bound to make less mistakes inputting the date. Although, the tradeoff is that this makes the user go to another page than the page he was working on. To overcome that problem, I propose in my design that the datepicker should not be another page redirect put opened as another widget. Tapping on Set will actually change the date on the Survey Screen. Tapping on the Cancel will return to the Survet Screen and Not set the date. Name: Aswathy Nair Screen 2. Survey Next Screens
