Using the idea of the writer’s discovery means that this type of hook would need to be used in the first person point of view. This type of hook is rather causal, so it would not be wisely used in an essay of a weighty matter.

3. A Sample I have spent many hours thinking about what to buy all the members of my family for Christmas this year, and I have come to a conclusion. Annually, I ponder this conundrum, What should I buy? What will they like? How much should I spend? I am tired of these same questions each year.
