2 Type of Disease: The Ebola virus is classified under the Filovirus family. There are also four types of the Ebola virus: Ebola-Zaire, Ebola-Sudan, Ebola-Ivory Coast(Tai), and Ebola-Reston.

3 Description of Disease: Severe fatal disease in humans and nonhuman primates

4 History of Disease: 1 st outbreak infected over 284 people, 53% mortality rate (1976) 2 ND outbreak 88% mortality rate, infected 318 people 3 rd strain (1989) infected monkeys were imported into Reston, Virginia, from Mindanao in the Philippines Natural reservoir was never identified

5 Symptoms: First:Followed By: Fever Headaches Joint aches Muscle aches Sore throat Weakness Diarrhea Vomiting Stomach pain Rash Red eyes Hiccups Internal/external bleeding

6 Transmission of Disease: Ebola is spread from human to human Occurs through direct contact with patients who have Ebola, or direct contact with their body fluids Occurs most often when an infected person is in the late stages of Ebola Hemorrhagic Fever

7 Where it originated: Ebola got it’s name from a river in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (formally Zaire), in Africa, where it was first recognized

8 Cures or Treatments: There is no treatment for Ebola Patients just have to take therapy Patients usually die in the early stages of Ebola
