4. Use Forcible entry –Used with halligan as commercial irons Breaking & breaching

5. Maintenance Head –Ensure head is secured to handle –File any burrs –Apply a thin coat of WD40 to any non painted metal surfaces –may paint black to prevent rusting Handle –Check for cracks and splinters –Sand and coat with boiled linseed oil –Wash fiberglass handles with mild soap and water

6. Safety Wear appropriate PPE –Minimum of helmet, gloves, and eye protection Full turnouts and SCBA are required when utilizing tool in an IDLH atmosphere or making entry into a possible IDLH atmosphere Check surroundings prior to using tool Ensure the tool is the right tool for the job
