Eye Parts and Functions Cornea: clear membrane between environment and inner eye that prevents pollutants (microorganisms, dust) from entering eye. Iris: controls amount of light entering eye Pupil: opening into eye Lens: focuses light onto retina Retina: converts light energy into electrical energy; contains rods (black, white, grey) and cones (color; ROY G BIV) Optic Nerve: sends electrical signal to brain
