SEO stands for search engine optimization. It is simply strategies website owners use to increase ranking and traffic from the search engines. Search engines are the first place people go to find things on the Internet. Top search engines today include: Google, Yahoo, & Bing According to comScore Google makes up 66.7% of searches. Bing is second at 18.1% Yahoo comes in at 11.1% ASK & AOL bring in 4% of total search volume combined. Obviously Google should be your focus.

When search engines started rankings were easy to get. You could rank a site based on how many keywords you stuffed onto the page. The old search engine robots didn’t have algorithms. Trustworthiness Link credibility Content quality None of it mattered. Spamming became easy for search engines. Link exchanges & mass link building Keyword stuffing

Due to their size Google is the search engine we must follow. You want Google to think you are a quality or good website. If you remain in Google’s good graces you have it made. SEO today is centered around cooperating with Google strategically.
